According to the legislation, no identification obligation exists in the Switzerland. However, what can occur is that you are asked to seek the next station for the purpose of establishing your identity (can occur in the case of a manhunt, due to confusion or similar). However, holding a personal identification document with you, can thus save a lot trouble and time.
